Either it was never a proposal speech to begin with or he got nervous in the middle and saw no way out in his panic except a break up. (Or he's a complete ass and purposely made it a trick, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.) Either way, FYL because you still got broken up with, and that sucks. If he just panicked and got nervous, your relationship might still have a chance.
