Today, my boyfriend of five years proposed to me in front of my entire family. He later confessed that it was part of a dare with his friends because, "There was no way you'd say yes." Guess who has to explain this to all my relatives? FML

Boyfriend of FIVE years, and he thought you would say no? Regardless of whether you were ever against the institution of marriage (as I assume that could be the only logical reason for thinking you ABSOLUTELY wouldn't want to) he's still a ******* jackass for doing that in front of your entire family and risking the embarrassment it would cause you. I don't know about dumping him off the bat if you really love him, but this would definitely be a time to reevaluate your relationship. Oh, and make the jerk explain himself to your family and friends. I bet he'll get a good ass kicking from a brother or relative of yours. He deserves it.
