I do believe I detect a bit of jealousy *sips tea* in all seriousness, that's ****** up of your friend to make you hit his dog so it'll hate you and love him. I detect future relationship issues with this one.

The sad part is that the dog probably loves his owner the most. The dog doesn't see you as often so it is special and thus the dog gives you affection when he can. That said I think your friend has issues and possible abusive tendencies. I suggest taking the dog and ditching the friend. Side note: My dog looooves my best friend so much that I get ignored when my friend is over. I joke to him that "his dog" misses him or that "his dog" is looking forward to seeing him.
