Today, I went over to my mother-in-law's house to have dinner. I was excited she invited me, since I thought she didn't like me. I ended up hanging her Christmas lights in a snowstorm while they had s'mores by the fire. FML

Today, a friend had invited me to Christmas dinner since I have no family close by. When I got there, she told me that her and her husband had forgotten they had another dinner to go to, and asked if I would watch their kids for them. They each grabbed a handful of cookies I had baked and rushed out the door. FML

Today, my wife made me go with her to dinner with her parents, despite their long-standing hatred of me. Later on, my mother-in-law muttered to me, "I made yours special for ya", smirked, then made a show of scratching at her butt-crack. FML

Today, I got stuck in a blizzard. My mother never picked me up like she was supposed to, and wasn't answering her phone. After walking around for a half hour, freezing, I finally found her. Where was she? Sitting in Pizza Hut, having a great time. FML

Today, I visited my in-laws, whom I thought I was on great terms with. I soon learned that wasn't the case when my mother-in-law yelled at me about how I've been abusing her for years. Ten minutes later, she hugged me and asked me for grandkids. FML

Today, I was on the phone with my mother. She asked me if I was going to make it to Christmas at home. I told her that I would try and make it home since it would be my grandma's last Christmas alive. To my luck, grandma was sitting in the car with my mother, and speaker phone was in use. FML

Today, my mom made me go shopping with her. It was freezing out, but she didn't wear a coat, boasting that she doesn't feel the chill like I do. By the time we drove home she was whining about freezing to death, and now I'm stuck in a house whose heating is set to "inferno". FML

Also assuming that you're old enough to own your own house, which is why you were invited to your mother in laws house and that your mother in law brought her parents which would be your kids great grandparents (if you have kids) it's kind of hard to believe that great-grandparents were outside during a snowstorm making smores. It would be hard to believe that both great grandparents are still alive let alone being outside during a snowstorm making smores. Also you must be really stupid for putting up Christmas lights up during a snowstorm.

I think OP was the only one outside during the snowstorm. everyone else was probably inside by a fireplace and she was looking in the window when she was hanging the lights.

the fml use to say that the mother in law was eating smores with her parents. Also if the weather is good enough to hang up Christmas lights I'm sure it's good enough to sit next to a fire and eat smores.
