Are surprised, I mean really these days people with assets need to protect themselves, otherwise they can get taken to the cleaners, cannot blame him, it is however a sad inditement on the state of the law these days where something as simple as becoming a couple means people have to protect themselves

...Are you retarded? This has nothing to do with "assets." This is a human being trying to force another human being to sign a contract which would basically lock her into the relationship with him. That's tantamount to him expecting her to marry him on the spot. We're talking about people here, not money and possessions.
