step parents can be wonderful parents, however if you want uplifting stories of amazing blended families FML is not really the best place to look.

also to add to the poster above me... life events are like customer reviews. 90% of what you hear isn't going to be nice. people don't walk up to the first friend they see and go "OMG can you believe what just happened to me? I had great service!" Instead they wait for it to come up in conversation and go "oh yeah I get great service there." so in life people aren't going to go up to someone or post "My step parent is amazing they teach me great life lessons" they are more likely to post "ugh my step parent did [insert act here]" then everyone else goes "omg step parents are evil." my boyfriends parents divorced and he is still mad about it but there is no denying his step father is a fantastic role model for him, ALONG or as a SUPPLEMENT to his father. They aren't all bad, sometimes the parent makes bad choices and chooses someone that isn't a good fit, or they dont seek help for how to transition their family so problems arise when it comes to the step parents authority, lack of respect, etc.
