he's doing his job. they have to see it whether you're underage or 103. besides, you should always have your ID on you
You kind of uh...need it to drive.
It's illegal to sell to someone who can't present valid id! ******* people! How hard is it to have id on you?! Take it as a compliment!
Stuff like this drives me batty. I work in a liquor store that requires us to card EVERYONE. Here are the penalties for failing to check and ID/selling to a minor/to an adult buying for a minor etc. For the individual who sold: -~$10,000 in fines -Potential jail time -Immediate termination -Felony charges staining your record For the company (store/store owners) -Potential Termination of liquor license -Definite suspension of liquor license for 3-7 days (of the states choosing) ----(Normally this is at least a few of the busiest days of the year, which can total up to/around $400,000 in losses) So tl;dr? Don't harass the employees for wanting to avoid all this. We get yelled at/cussed at etc every single day by ornery people who don't understand this.
It was interesting to read this, but none of it applies to this post. OP is in the UK where the law is totally different. Legal age to buy alcohol here is 18. It is a matter for the person selling to decide whether to card someone. To help them, many major stores have a "challenge 21" or "challenge 25" policy, where they require staff to card anyone who looks under this age. You also can't sell alcohol to anyone if you're under 18. This usually translates as "someone older supervises the sale", to prevent big hold ups. Shops can only be prosecuted here for selling to someone who is actually underage - not for failing to check id. The OP here is 37. At that age it would be reasonable to expect not to be refused service. It's happened to me once or twice and yes, it's annoying.
Ur the dumb ass who forgot ur Id, don't get mad at the kid for doing his job retard!
Ummm he was doing his job??? He could get in deep shit for selling alcohol to a minor..... And why wouldn't you carry ID anyway?
You should be honored he thought you were so young!!
Andrew, you should always carry your ID on you. Tisk tisk.
