Today, I learned that "Je suis excité" does not mean "I'm excited" in French. It means "I'm sexually excited"... more or less. I've been doing a lot of exciting things and using it a lot the past two weeks. With my French friends, people I meet, and especially with my host family. FML

Today, I'm in Spain, and told the kids with whom I will be working that I was excited to be working with them. Only the form of excitement I used apparently refers to sexual excitement. Basically, I told the kids I was sexually aroused to be working with them. FML

I swear i take French and "Je suis excite" means I am excited I am like 100% sure. Yah maybe it means that 2, but it does mean I am excited. So don't worry.

It does mean that. But it's not obvious-obvious... if it was something like 'ça m'excite', I would've said FYL, but if you're a less-than-perfect French speaker, "je suis excitée" should be alright ^^ (this is native French-from-France. The funny part of this FML is how none of the natives seem to agree on the meaning XP)

Don't worry, I'm a native french speaker, I would understand what you mean. They all know you was NOT a native speaker and of course you were likely to make this kind of mistakes... And like others people have said... If you don't say something like : Tu m'excites, ou ''ça m'excite'' it's still good. And don't worry. On ''viedemerde'' (vdm) which is the french version of fmylife, we have a lot of vdm about that. For instance a person who have said to a salewoman who asked : ''So, What do you think (about somes clothes)'' ? He answered : ''I'm touching myself''' (yeah, yeah, he SAID it... !!!). Just because in french we have an expression ''Je me tâte'' and it actually means :''I don't know yet'' or I'm hesitating... and he tried to translate this expression literraly. So I think I can assume this case is not much of a concern because your host family knew you were not a native speaker... Not the salewoman. Well, of course, it's always something you don't like to find out... ;)

Don't worry OP. If an English speaking personne tells us that they were really "excité", we get that they translates litteraly from "excited". We're not dumb you know...
