Today, I got a cat so I'd have some company, since my roommate is always with her boyfriend. Too bad the cat likes her more. So now I get to sit and listen to her talk to her boyfriend to get to cuddle with my kitty. FML

Just go in your room or to another part of your house to play with your kitty and politely remind your roommate that it's your pet, not hers and her boyfriend's.

get a small pet they don't play favorites and it will go straight to you if they aren't stubborn

Stop whining. Your cat can sense your loathsome attitude and doesn't want a bar of it. Animals are sensitive to people's emotions. Show your cat some interest. Spend time with your cat and let your cat get to know you as the parent. Take a stand and be cat like and do cat things and the cat will like you back

OP here, and the reason I have no other company is because we both recently moved into the city from a small town, so through the week when I'm in school I don't get to see any of my friends. Coincidentally, the reason we moved in together was so that we could have some company through the week. Then her boyfriend moved in with us unexpectedly
