Oh god, phones and pools. I was there to witness someone make this mistake once. It was hilarious and sad at the same time. My mother has made a similar mistake TWICE - she ran her phone through the washing machine (she's terrible about checking her pockets!). Both times it was the same phone. The first time, she was able to salvage it by putting it in the oven, not turning it on, but just letting the heat of the pilot light dry it out. The second time...she tried to do that, but forgot it was there and got an urge to bake cookies...
