Sociopathic method

Today, it seemed like my new boyfriend worked wonders training my puppy. Now she listens, doesn’t bark and doesn’t chew everything to bits anymore. I was very impressed, until my boyfriend told me beating a dog until it behaves works every time. My dog isn’t trained; she’s too terrified to move. FML

time to call the cops and get the "ex boyfriend" arrested for felony animal abuse.

"training?" that's animal abuse. Leave that asshole ASAP. anyone who beats a dog is complete trash. hearing about a dog being beaten makes me sick and hurts my heart!

Time to ditch the "new boyfriend" or rehome the pup to someone that won't allow it to be abused. Poor little dog...

dude, that's insane

Dump him and report him for animal abuse. Never let him in your home and near your dog again.

Don't read "Call of the Wild."

Dump his ass

leave him. he's a fucking psychopath!

Yikes. Dump the boyfriend and report him for animal abuse.

sounds like training to me. it's not like he beats the dog just to beat him. that would be animal abuse

A dog being swatted on the ass or hit with a rolled-up news paper is VERY different than beating an animal. Just like how spanking a child is a VERY far cry from beating a child. They are not the same and beating an animal or a human is disgusting and unacceptable.

Hi, someone with a degree in education here. Giving punishment (it’s called positive punishment) is the absolute worst way to train a living being. It causes them to be scared or possibly aggressive. The best way is positive reinforcement, which is when you reward good behavior. Yes, it may take a bit longer, but it won’t have any adverse effects on behavior. We looked at studies of the different types of training of dogs, so this definitely applies here too.
