Today, I caught two kids passing notes to each other in my class, so I told them to see me afterwards. When one of the kids eventually came up, I noticed he was crying. He looked up at me and sobbed out, "I was trying to make my first friend!" FML

I'd say OP did the right thing. If he hadn't asked the kids to meet with him, he wouldn't have known what was really going on. It's a good idea for a teacher to take the time to get to know their students.

teachers never consider all the options... school teaches you to read and write all the rest is either irrelevant out of date or worse... children don't need your education they need to live. to be kids
