I blame Facebook for diluting the word “friend” into a meaningless concept.
Just like the words “literally” and “awesome” have been rendered as nothing more than background noise, labeling someone as a friend has become equally vapid.

It may have been because of the weather that they didn’t come, so maybe it’s not personal.

Real friends don't let annoying things like rain, sleet, or snow keep them from attending b-day parties. Or at the very least, call/ send last-minute regrets. C'mon!

Fair, I was under the impression that it was something planned that couldn’t be done in the rain and therefore goes without saying that not coming was from the rain.

Don't you know that if you plan an outside party, it will always rain that day? Newtons Third Law!
