I can explain!

Today, I got proposed to by my long-term best friend, my boyfriend. I panicked and thought of the last time that I got left at the altar by who I thought was the love of my life then, and inadvertently said “No” as a defense mechanism. I’m the most hated person in our social circle, and he’s inconsolable. FML

You should try and explain what you’re feeling (whether you want to marry him or not.) I know it’s complicated and difficult, but if you’re not able to communicate, it’s never going to work.

COMMUNICATION ASAP!!! Apologize, explain that you didn't mean to say no and it was a PTSD like response.

Try talking it out once everything's calmed down.

so why are you fml and not trying to clear things up? 🤦‍♀️

Get plastic surgery to alter your appearance, flee to a new country and start a new life under an assumed identity. That's the simplest, most obvious solution to your irredeemable blunder.

So did you not mean it when you said no? If that's the case then just tell him that.

People really shouldn't surprise/shock their partners regarding major life events. I would hope you two had discussed marriage in real terms before this. And if you had, then he should be aware of how frought with emotion a wedding may be for you.

I don't understand this. It seems like it would be incredibly easy to explain yourself.
