Festive spirit

Today, I'm already dreading Christmas. Our mom insists on fairytale-like decorations that everyone else pays for and helps her make. We're exhausted. She's the only one who doesn't have a job, but if we don't help she spends the day crying in her room. FML

"No" is an entire sentence. She's an adult, if she can't afford it herself then let her cry.

Yup. You are not responsible for her feelings. Don’t be a jerk about it but definitely stand your ground. If there are grandchildren, they can always help make decorations with grandma as a fun activity, but it’s not up to you to pay or make Christmas decorations for her.

Amazon and have her come to your house to make your part while she makes dinner for her grandchildren, who should be helping grandma make the things for extra special bonding time.

Quit your current job and become an assistant elf for the next month. Worked out pretty well for Will Ferrell, I'll say.

Honestly? Let her cry. Like don’t be a dick intentionally or anything, but you can’t, and shouldn’t, put your entire life on hold because your mom overshoots what she can physically do for decorations. Talk to her and set out your boundaries ahead of time.
