¿Dónde estás?

By Anonymous - 09/03/2015 14:24 - Spain - Zaragoza

Today, an old friend of mine landed in Spain, where he's visiting me. After a few minutes talking about where we should meet, we realized the reason he couldn't figure out where it was, was probably due to the fact that he was in Barcelona. I live in Madrid. FML

What I'm wondering is how they didn't notice this when they were planning the friend's trip...

Barcelona isn't thàt far away.. Especially not by American standards

Looked it up. That's six hours... pretty far

A seven hour drive isn't what most Americans would call a "short" drive.

I'm not saying six hours is a short drive for anyone, just that it's something that's relatively easy to fix. It's loads better than going to Auckland (New Zealand) and ending up in Auckland (CA)

Or ending up in Vancouver when your suppose to be in Toronto

It would take a lot of ambition from chance to play a mean joke on someone for said someone to end up in Auckland, California, which is an unincorporated community just slightly to the side of the middle of nowhere and, incidentally, doesn't have an airport. I'm guessing you may have meant Oakland.

Only 315 miles. That about 4-6 hours depending on speed limit, traffic, and how well you obey the speed limit. Could be worse.

It takes about 6-7 hours to drive from Dallas, TX to Corpus, TX. Maybe it's just a Texas thing but I'm used to driving a few hours to get from one city to the next. Usually you can make it to a different state faster than you can make it to a different city lol

#13, true, but many Americans have driven that distance or farther. 6 hours is really not that bad. I will need to drive 21 hours this summer to visit my family.

Not a killer either #13. I do 4+ for fun at least twice a year and would do upwards of 12 without much more thought if I had cause. that being said I like road trips.

How far is it?? Can you jump on a train or commuter plane for cheap?? Also plan better next time

No big deal, Barcelona is only a few hours away from Madrid. Split the drive and meet up someplace in the middle.

Is not something we're used to do. In Spain we don't normally go other cities casually.

Too expensive, do you know how much we pay for the gas? Yesterday it was 1,26€/lt, like $5,15 per gallon.

I wish gas was that cheap.. here it costs €1.6/liter

The minimum wage in Spain is like 4.50. The cost of living should therefore be cheaper

Knowing where you are is pretty important.

You're welcome, lieutenant sarcasm.

Give him a break. He just wanted to to the beach...

On the bright side, at least he's in the right country :)

It's still a 600km difference, which is huge in Europe. He could have ended up in Portugal and still be closer to Madrid...

But it depends whether they are good friends or not. if not "well I'll see you in a few years pal"
