Today, I had to rush my 14-year-old son to the hospital after he fell out of a tree while trying to take an obnoxious "extreme selfie". FML

Today, I had to take my son to the ER after he badly messed up trying to light his farts on fire. FML
Today, my father was pruning the tree in our front yard. I was helping him collect the falling branches. At one point, a branch fell and I was under it. My father jumped to push me out of the way. Instead he pushed the branch into my face. FML
Today, I'm sitting in the ER with my eight-year-old son. He broke his arm after jumping out through the second story window. He was too impatient to walk to the ice cream van pulling up outside. FML
Today, my 12 year-old son came home with two broken arms after finding an awesome place to ride his bike. He found a sweet jump and his handlebars broke. He's currently in slings and waiting for an appointment with a surgeon, the breaks were so bad, the hospital couldn't reset them. FML
Today, I had to take my son to the emergency room for shooting himself in the ass with a BB gun. FML
Today, in a desperate bid to avoid going to the doctor, my young son ran into and hid inside a cactus garden. I had to drag him out. FML
Today, I spent six hours at the ER. Why? My husband dared our seventeen-year-old son to recreate a 'Jackass' trolley-hedge diving stunt at the local supermarket. What wasn't on my groceries list was a broken arm, fractured wrist, whiplash and cuts and bruises. FML
Today, I had to pick my 22-year-old son up from the hospital, after he got blind drunk, got his hand stuck in a Pringles can, and got the bright idea of staggering to the local ER to get it cut off. FML
Today, I had to explain to a hospital social worker that my young son is not abused, he is just rowdy and that he knocked himself unconscious and shattered 4 teeth in a bizarre stunt involving a tree, my ironing board, a mop bucket and lots of duct tape. I'm not sure the hospital believes me. FML
Today, I fell down a hill out of my hammock, which broke my phone screen and my sunglasses. My idiot brother launched me out of it, so he could "assert his dominance." He's 11. FML

It's really not just "these" days. Sure, the times may have changed, but I am more than positive that young boys all through history have gotten themselves hurt doing stupid things to try and seem cool... I really don't know why it bothers me when people complain about this or that generation. Kids have always, and will always, do stupid shit. Dumbfucks frequent history.

i remember one time, many months ago.. i was watching tv and i saw (i think it was for insurance) a commercial. the one where the guy is supposed to be like everything that could go wrong with your car so later i went outside and climbed up a rather large tree and stood on a branch and started yelling "shaky shaky shaky" and as i was halfway through saying the last shaky the branch snapped and landed on my butt.. hard. So everyone does stupid things as kids not just for an extreme selfie

Although the advancement in technology has led to bad habits in today's generation, our parents and grandparents had their share of bad habits back in the day. They smoked and drank underage. While that is still around today, (unfortunately), it is far less common today to see a 14 year old smoking than 50 years ago.

No it isn't just these days kids have always have done stupid things. Though it often seems like though the the generation growing up not knowing a time without the internet is worse. Whether that's correct because they are predominately more closed off from experiences that would teach them common sense or it's just more published there is a jump. Though 10 years ago I don't remember reading as many stories about dumb kids. And if I did usually it involved spring break.

I go by the adolescent mortality rate. The number of kids who do something stupid enough they kill themselves by accident. Despite ever more security measures and safety equipment the percentage keeps growing.

Ok first of all 71, the boy would have climbed the tree and quite possibly fallen out of said tree regardless of technology (I mean boys will be boys right?) and second of all...
