Today, I met my girlfriend's dad at a tennis game. I could tell he despised me from the start, but it only got worse when I played him. He smashed the ball at me and I went to hit it, but I missed and fell over, tearing my arm up on the gravel. He had a smirk on his face for the rest of the day. FML

he won't come around, he's supposed to hate you, its in his DNA. He might however start to be nice depending on the age of his daughter and you, and how you treat her. if you guys are underage, he's just going to figure you want to get in his little girls pants. Sorry OP, you will be the same with your daughter if you know what's good for her.

33 no, if he knows what's good for her, he'll treat his daughter like a human, not like a piece of property that's too stupid to handle life. That's what my dad did, and I respect him greatly for not acting like I was a child incapable of making my own decisions when it comes to my partners.

Hopefully in the future, the dad will act his age and respect and trust his daughters' judgment and choice of partner in OP. Dad's can be overly protective of their daughters, (understatement) but when they take off their dad hats and do the man-to-man thing, they usually see their mistake.
