Today, while trying to get my boss to reconsider laying off much of my department, I accidentally convinced him to lay me off too. FML

I imagine the conversation went something like this: OP: Boss, you can't lay off that many people in my department! OP's Boss: Give me one good reason why I shouldn't. OP: If you want to, you'll have to lay me off, too! OP's Boss: Ok, you can join them.

Unfortunately you brought it upon yourself. If he's laying off people, then you'd usually want to avoid being on his mind when he's firing people. But nevertheless, props to you for standing up to him.

Point at someone else and you'll have three fingers pointing at you!

I'm sure your coworkers will be glad you "took one for the team!" FYL.

Man I hope your job wasn't negotiations or involved trading. Or involving any talking whatsoever.

That wouldn't make sense if they're a lawyer. Most lawyers have their own business and are hired by clients.

@15: I guess that's why a lot of law firms exist...

Well if a company is doing so bad they have to lay off a lot of a department, I'd say this is good. Try to find a more stable company.

Reminds me of the story of the Lichtenstein army. They went into battle with 100 men and came back with 101 cos they were that awesome. But you're like the complete opposite of that.

it was 80 apparently but thanks for the awesome reading material (i litterally just looked it up)
