Today, the only card I got for Valentine's Day was in my mother's handwriting, and she posted it through the front door herself. She still won't admit it's from her. FML

I'm only 16 and my mom was all I had. She died a little over a year ago. I'd do anything just to see her one more time. Be grateful you still have a mom OP :)

Nobody just "gets over" the death of their only parent. They simply try to accept it. And no I don't have to deal with having a tyrannical father, but I do have to deal with my pill-popping, psycho, bipolar aunt that I live with. I love her, but she can be a little mean sometimes

Katie, I'm sorry for your loss. Try your best to ignore inappropriate and witless comments like "get over it". People who say these things either don't understand what you're going through, or are trying to impart their own grieving tactics onto you. You will grieve and move forward with your life in your own way. Stay strong...the first year is always the hardest, but time will dull the pain some.

I really appreciate what you just said ^.^ So many people are telling me to shut up about it and everything but it's still fairly shocking to me that she's gone and most people that tell me to shut up have both their parents so they don't understand at all. Guys, I'm sorry if I'm annoying you all with me talking about my mom. I'm not trying to get sympathy at all. Just try to put yourself in my position. That's what I do with you guys. Thank you :)

I am right there with you. I lost my mom about 3 years ago. It doesn't get any easier. Keep your chin up though.

Yea. I live in the same house my mom lived and died in, and she died literally right in from of me, so it's pretty rough. I'm staying positive though :) I plan on using all the total bullshit I've been through to help others and let them know that they'll be ok and just be there for them. Thank you for the encouragement :) Keep your chin up too, darling ^.^
