really? i dont think my dentist ever wore a mask. When i got my braces on/off my orthodontist did, but other than that he didn't either. Bad dentist =o

If I were a dentist or an optometrist or a neurosurgeon, sneezing would give me nightmares. What I don't understand is would you feel a sneeze coming on and turn your head? It's almost as if he was giving up and ready stop being a dentist. They do have the highest rate of suicide among professionals....supposedly

an optometrist is someone who makes and prescribes GLASSES. they dont do surgery. so it wouldnt matter if they sneezed. the word you're looking for is "ophthalmologist"

It's been many, many years since I've had an exam where the dentist wasn't wearing a mask, and more recently, even eye protection. I asked a while ago about the eye protection, and he said that when they're picking around, flecks of spit and such will flick out -- They don't want anything getting into their mouth or eyes. Gross, I know. I don't think I would want to go to a dentist that didn't have good safety practices, though.
