I'm going to give you a "your life sucks" but I doubt this was the first hint you ever had that your mother can't keep a secret and has a terrible sense of timing. Next time you want to keep a secret don't tell your mother. Next time you want to *broadcast* a secret, tell your mother.

This was extremely rude of your mom to interrupt like that. Even if it had been midnight, she should respect your privacy in this special moment. Maybe after proposing, you two may have wanted to "celebrate" afterwards. I think you need to have a talk with your mom. Sorry, OP. I hope she said yes and best wishes to you.
