Today, my mother sat me down to tell me that since coming home from college, I sounded like "a liberated woman." She was disappointed and disturbed by this, and said that I should stop having strong opinions and ideals because it would make finding a husband for me difficult. FML

Tell your mom to shut the **** up and that this isn't the 1950's.

Don't stop being "a liberated woman" everyone should use their brains and being willing to speak in a peaceful manor and have discussions on issues. Besides I would rather date a woman that can tell me that I am wrong and then we can discuss why I am wrong and find common ground. Keep it up, your doing the right thing.

want to hear a joke? WOMEN'S RIGHTS! hahaha jk. I'm a woman myself. Only weak-minded and insecure men will be intimidated by your liberation, strong opinions, and ideals. You don't want them as husbands anyways. :] A true man is secure in himself and isn't afraid of a woman who knows what she wants and has a lot of knowledge about many different subjects. In fact, a true man LOOKS for a woman like this. Remember that the next time your mother says something like this to you. However, there is no need to get really mad at your mom / say anything upsetting to her. She can't really help what she said; those are the values that were instilled into her when she was growing up.

DameGreyWolf, the government sometimes doesn't need to tax its citizens because they get enough money from tourism. Eg: Panama, it gets its money from the canal and tourism.

Having opinions is a wonderful thing! I am a feminist woman currently pursuing my doctorate. I am very opinionated. I also have a fiance. Obviously, it is not impossible to find a husband and be opinionated at the same time. Besides, I would be miserable if I had to be with someone who didn't respect my opinions. And, as others have said, you don't HAVE to have a husband. Only get married if you want to, its really none of your mother's business.

I so agree with number 108. I am a definite feminist and VERY opinionated, and though I personally wants husband, but that doesn't mean anyone has to have one if they dont want one. It's not a man's world anymore. Women have rights too.

Don't ever stop being a liberated woman. Good for you. You should NEVER have to silence yourself or submit yourself to someone else's ideals to find a partner. It sounds like you have potential to go far in life so don't let any man, or your mother, hold you back. Wait until someone comes along who appreciates you for your honesty and intelligence, you'll find one eventually! :)

stryker0530 sounds like a backwoods hillbilly that's married to his sister.... Don't listen to your mom. This isn't the fifties anymore.

That is only true if you're looking to marry a republican
