Today, my boyfriend broke up with me, saying he had to move away to be with his dad, who's just been diagnosed with cancer. After talking to his sister, I discovered that not only is his dad healthy, he's not moving away either; he's just gotten back with his ex. FML

43-Are you serious? You think lying to somebody is letting them off easy? Wow. You, my friend, get the Slow Clap Award this year. Congrats. Letting someone off easy is telling them--in a nc way, obviously--that you guys should see other people. Essentially the opposite of bluntly telling them "I'm done with this relationship. Let's break up." But lying definitely doesn't fall under that category. If anything, it's worse than just telling them you want a break-up.

I hate it when cancer is used in any form of unjustified deceit. It's bad enough people die from it. It does need to be used for someone's selfish personal gain, whether he or she has cancer or not

that has nothing to do with it. he lived with his mum or on his own, his dad was "ill", moved to be with him to help him. she didn't find out she didn't live with his dad, she found out he was lying about his dad being ill. idiot.
