Today, it was my birthday. My grandma gave me a hug and a check after wishing me a happy birthday and walked away giggling. I was excited because it was the only gift I had gotten all day. Ten minutes later, I realized that it was actually just my tax refund. FML

Today, I found the birthday card my grandma had mailed. Apparently, it contained a gift of $100. Too bad it was in my mom's trash can, opened, with no money. She told my grandma it must have gotten lost in the mail. FML

Today, I celebrated my birthday with my family. As part of my presents, my parents gave me prepaid debit card. When I got home, I looked at it again and realized it's the debit card you get from selling back books to our university bookstore. I bought my own books this year. They gave me my own refund. FML

Today, for my birthday, my mom presented me with a $4,000 check to pay for my braces. I've been very self-conscious about my teeth for years. #9 Are you serious? It is when (at least in Canada and the US) you fill out a bunch of crap saying how much money you made in the last year and depending on all the numbers, if the gov't has too much of your money, they refund some of it. I only got $187 this year. T__T #16: Some people are responsible and do it early. As soon as I got my T4 (Canada) I did my taxes. I got my refund in the early part of March. Not everyone waits until the last minute.
