Today, I was told I'll need a hysterectomy. I'm barely 22. My doctor said "You probably wanted kids, huh? That's gonna be rough!" FML

Well there are two options: you may be able to harvest some eggs and save them for later for use in ivf, or you can adopt and give an existing kid a loving home. Either way, best of luck OP.

That sucks; I'd go get a second opinion if I were in your shoes.

The **** is wrong with that doctor? A second opinion can't hurt (if you can swing it), but there's no reason for the doctor to be like that.

See if you can have at yer eggs. At least then you'll still be able to be a mother later. I was told I needed one. Now I'm pregnant. Get second opinion. And save yer eggs!!

Get a 2nd opinion. No need to just go ahead with one - apparently empathy lacking - doctor tells you to do.

A second opinion is definitely warranted (as with any big medical decision) and hopefully you'll find one with a better bedside manner.

Sorry to hear this hon. I'm a recent hysterectomy survivor myself. 3 months post op. I would inquire about saving your eggs and talk to specialists that can help you. Also if you're having anxiety or feel really upset about it I would recommend seeing a counselor to help you prepare mentally. One more thing, if you are on Facebook, there are a few hysterectomy support groups that are so incredibly amazing and helpful. You can find out a lot more from these groups than you will from your doctor. I wish you all the best luv ☺️

I am sorry OP. I had one in my early 30's but I had already had two children. I can't imagine what you're going through. As some have stated previously, look into egg harvesting and then a surrogate. That or you can see another doctor and get a second opinion if you believe the doctor is wrong. Big hugs to you hun!

I'm sorry, while the lack of menstrual bleeding is a perk it's still tactless how you stated things. Having a hysterectomy is a scary and intensely emotional experience. Try a little sensitivity perhaps. This is a woman who will be losing a major part of herself that can be extremely hard to lose emotionally.

Because making fun of something like that is so professional. I'm sorry OP. Maybe look into egg donation? Or a surrogate?

New doctor immediately. They are supposed to have empathy towards their patients. Bedside manner gets an F. You get to be emotional about this. Then think about options but for now second opinion.
