chances are, if it was a speed camera, it already got ur speed when u saw it. also persons fault behind you not giving themself enough space to stop if needed. thats why radar detectors are the best (well in NY at least cuz they r legal)
somehow missed the highway part, def is ur fault for braking hard on the highway with no hazard in front of u
I meant *46
qp
reminds me of the time ted danson and i were driving to las vegas, it was a wonderful journey and we didnt crash. i did however lose my house and children in a bet but thats a story for another day
Everyone here seems to act like they have NEVER went over the speed limit. But unfortunately OP just got the bad end of it.
this will work in OPs favor-they hit him from behind, so automatically it's the other drivers' fault. OP, sit back and let the insurance money pour on in :)
149's right. You're responsible if you rear-end the driver in front of you. I'm still waiting for my settlement.
149 and 151 - if the other drivers can provide witnesses (and as OP was on the motorway im sure there were plenty of witnesses) that OP stopped suddenly with no reason to then it is not the other driver's fault. And also if it wasn't a speed camera it could have been just a normal motorway camera to keep an eye on traffic and collisions etc. so there will be video evidence of OP's careless driving causing an accident. These days there isn't really a stretch of motorway unfilmed.
Why were you speeding in the first place?
YDI for speeding. It's pointless.
yes and could kill someone in the process
Any speed? I don't think so
Kay. I'm gonna run you over at 2mph. Not bump into you. Run your ass over. Let's see if you live or not ;D
You ought to lose your license. From personal experience with a jackass who did the same thing to me, I can tell you that your insurance isn't going to compensate your victims the true value of their vehicles. They will be out several thousand dollars and loads of time dealing with the mess because of what you did.
Comment moderated for rule-breaking.
Show it anywayHard braking on a highway without a real emergency is an idiot move. OP's fault, entirely.
I think legally the car that hits the one in front is at fault. In this case the one's that crashed into the back of the OP. Personally I think in this case it's the OP's fault for braking hard without any real need. Though I suppose the other cars must have been speeding too to have been at a distance to be able to hit him. But still, it's called an 'emergency brake' for a reason, which is the only braking that requires 'hard braking'.
Because the comments here (used to?) end up in trolling fests?
it's braking* not breaking.
#30 -- Really? You don't get how someone arbritrarily hard braking on the highway could create victims of the drivers behind him?
It's partially their fault for following so close, but in(presumably) clear weather on the highway, suddenly slamming on your brakes is bound to cause an accident.
you retard, YDI
agreed
don't speed if you aren't observant AND have fast reflexes
^ I totally ******* agree with you
YDI for speeding so fast and not paying attention to the road. Even going a ton you should have been able to spot and break safely in time to not cause a pileup. Oh, and get out of the fast lane. Thats for overtaking, not cruising jackass!
Brake hard on a highway? Unbelievable. Were you high and/or receiving road-head?

wow that's so stupid...I don't think anything else needs to be said.
