Today, I made the decision to lighten my hair from dark brown to blonde. I thought the stylist knew what she was doing, but I ended up with my hair fried off and orange. FML

Well. You can't turn dark brown hair to blonde is one sitting... This takes MONTHS of appointments and patience and hard work. Although she should have had a more thorough conversation with you, at the end of the day, stylists are going to give you what exactly you ask for, whether it will look good or work out or not. You're the customer and they're going to oblige. Just like you can't bring a shit drawing to a tattoo artist and then blame your artist for the tattoo looking like shit when they did it exactly like the picture you brought in. Come on now

This can either by a YDI or a FYL. If you had virgin hair, FYL. If you had previously dyed your hair brown and didn't tell the stylist before hand than YDI

As a hair stylist myself I know how frustrated you must feel but sometimes the client can leave out important details as to what exactly they do to their hair which can end up in a fried orange mess...don't blame the stylist for everything

Definitely post a review on Yelp so that nobody else has to go through the same thing (unless they don't check Yelp).

Complain to the place, shave it all, say it was to raise cancer awareness

Lightener can only lift so many levels at once. The stylist should have explained this before hand. Orange is the undertone at a 6 or 7, so your hair was probably at a 2 or 3 to start with. It shouldn't be fried though. If it is, you should get it trimmed, but you can probably still get blonde from where you're at. Let your hair rest for 2 weeks before putting any more chemicals in it. Good luck!
