Today, I dropped my phone in the wet snow. I read that putting it in rice helps to get the water out. Three pieces of rice are now frozen into the power port, and I can't get the charger in. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I dropped my phone in water, and my friends told me to put it in rice to draw out the water. They put my phone in riceroni. My phone now smells like chicken and has rice seasoning stuck all over it. Needless to say it still doesn't work. FML
Cool phone
Today, I put my phone in the fridge to cool it down. Now it's cold, but it won't turn on. FML
Today, my car got stuck in a foot of snow. I tried desperately digging around my wheels to see if it would help. I was finally able to get out 10 minutes later only to realize that I had dropped my phone in the snow while I was digging and had run over it. FML
Today, after dropping my phone in the toilet, I left it dismantled outside in my backyard to dry hoping it could be saved. I forgot about the phone as well as the sprinklers that were scheduled to go off. FML
Soggy mess
Today, I managed to wash my phone with my laundry. I didn’t realize it was in my jeans until I heard a thudding noise. After rescuing it from the depths of soggy clothes, I tried the rice trick to dry it out. A few hours later, my cat thought it was a new litter tray and promptly pissed in the rice, then spread it all over the counter. FML
Today, I was texting while making dinner. I went to pour the noodles into the boiling water and I dropped my phone in. Not thinking, I went to retrieve it from the water. I now have a completely useless phone and a useless hand. FML
Today, I learned the reason they say don't keep your phone in high humidity places. I left my phone on the counter when I went to take a shower. It now won't turn on due to water damage and the warranty doesn't cover it. FML
False advertising
Today, I woke up to find my cat had knocked my phone into the toilet. As I fished it out, soaking wet, I thought, "Well, at least it's water-resistant." Turns out, my phone wasn't. FML
Today, my phone died. I plugged it in to charge and then went out to run some errands. When I returned, my phone was no where to be found, and our shovel was on the floor, muddy and wet. I then discovered my 6-year old son had buried my "dead" 200$ palmpilot because he had felt sorry for me. FML
Splash
Today, I was in my hot tub with my brand new phone. I set it down and when I grabbed my towel I knocked it into the water. I quickly snatched it up and dried it off with the towel, and surprisingly only one button stopped working. It was the unlock button, so now I have a perfectly good phone that I can't use. FML

Just leave it alone for now and go back to it when the rice defrosted. Get a tooth pick and try to get it out of there gently and if that doesn't work go to your provider and hopefully they can be of some use. Good luck OP :)

What, may I inquire, is the difference between a man's hair dryer and a woman's hair dryer?

The rice thing is a joke people say if your phone is broken you should put it in rice and leave it over night and Asians will be atracted to the rice and come fix your electronics. It will not really fix anything!

Just because someone made a joke about something doesn't mean it isn't true anymore. Rice will remove the moisture.
Zebediabolical 45
People have been using dry rice to get the moisture out of electronics longer than facebook has been around to share that shitty joke.

I live in Southeast Louisiana and we eat rice with nearly every meal. If rice was that absorbent, wouldn't it just plump up from all the humidity that we have?
jujuthefroggy_fml 16
hmm uncooked rice absorves humidity, cooked rice do not....
TheLittleOnion 18
Oh my gosh! How many times do people have to explain that IT IS A FACT!!!!!!! Rice absorbs the moisture out of the phone, and my dad has done countless times!

I'm not sure how you accomplished getting rice frozen in your charger port, but that has to suck....
majlymad 2
why where you trying to charge it while it still had ice in it? that's water so let me spell it out for you! ice is a form of water. what happens when you mix water with electricity? goes fizzzzz then maybe a pop. in short do not reproduce

Certain he or she did not state they were attempting to charge the phone just that the rice got stuck.

"now frozen into the power port, and I can't get the charger in" How is it frozen there if the ice is gone? It could be stuck in there but not frozen. If they had just said the "now frozen" part it wouldn't imply that. The "and I can't get the charger in" , however, implies that it was still wet and they were trying to put the charger in.

Something doesn't have to have water on it to be frozen. Nearly everything has it's own freezing temperature. You're all assuming rice has to be below 32 Fahrenheit because that's common for water. It doesn't have to be that low.
jujuthefroggy_fml 16
But if something is already solid, it can't freeze... in fact, when food freezes, it is actually the water in it that is freezing. However, i assume that the rice is not really frozen, but just stuck there because it inflated while absorbing the humidity.

you're supposed to take the battery out and leave it all in the rice overnight... there should be no frozen parts after that

But of course! How could I possibly have overlooked the giraffes? For shame! D=
