Today, a woman and her daughter came into the store I work at. The girl placed a pair of underpants on the counter, and confessed she had stolen them earlier. Assuming she had already heard a lecture, I simply thanked her for bringing them back. Her mom yelled at me for not yelling at her. FML

Yell at the mother for raising a thief - then ban both from the store for life. Nobody wants shoplifters where they work, unless of course your job is keeping people locked up in jail.

Clearly the mom has something large stuck up her... nose. You should have politely told her to remove it before criticizing somebody for expecting her to do her job as a mother. Double points if you're able to use big words that confuse the woman (I'm assuming she's some sort of trash-mother as she expected a stranger to discipline her kid...)
