Today, 60 guests for my wedding were supposed to arrive to the Bahamas. The first and only hurricane of the season decided to crash my wedding, stranding my mom, maid of honor and best man. No one will be able to attend my wedding, except the other drunken hotel guests. FML

Sucks :( at least your fiancé is there...

Gotta say, weddings are planned months in advance before these things can be foreseen.

It would be the 19th not the 21st...

Well no one forced you to organize a tacky wedding in the Bahamas and make 60 people fly there for you "special I'm-a-princess day". What a stupid and egocentric thing to do anyway...

30 - Shoot your self now, you are no help to anyone.

Agreed minus a bit of the bitterness. Destination weddings that are NOT elopements are a selfish burden to place upon one's friends and family.

Unless you have a load of money and you're going to pay to bring the family out. Dad paid to fly the family/ families out when he got remarried.

32- I don't think he should shoot himself over that....

Make it work, OP. Take lots of pics and enjoy. Do some videos while there. When you get back, send everyone a gift bag with a copy of your video. Rated G of course. Then at your 5 year, renew your vows in style. Have fun anyway!!

Don't have a wedding in Mexico in October , that being said ci grays and have a reception when u get home - try to make the best if it even though its hard- a lot of planning goes into a wedding

The bahamas are not Mexico. October is a great month to get married in Mexico. It is the summer you dont want. It rains all afternoon.

Aw, your marriage is doomed. Everyone knows that big, lavish weddings are the only way to have a successful marriage, . . ., no, wait.

Wasn't there insurance you could get for situations like this?

If its such an obvious and likely risk, why would an insurer bet against that? I wonder if the price of the policy would be nearly as much as the coverage the op could expect to recover in the event of the almost inevitable cancellation!

Don't plan a wedding during hurricane season.

This is another reason why destination weddings are a horrible idea.
