The Teaching Life

Today, being incredibly ill after my second COVID shot, I called in sick for maybe the third time in 10 years (I teach). That didn’t stop parents from calling and messaging to scream at me because they weren’t happy. I had to drag myself out of bed and do work in between throwing up. I feel even worse now. FML

thats awful, I take it you're doing online? I know where we are, any time the teachers can't do a Google meet with the kids they just post some work for the kids to do on their own in their virtual classroom, usually something that doesn't have a deadline but will keep them busy. I hope you feel better soon!

Not to get on your case too much, but you should have fully expected that 2nd shot to make you feel pretty ill. It's a well documented side effect most people with healthy immune systems will experience.

I'm a teacher too. Ignore the parents. Just post an assignment and let the kids work on it. If they can't figure it out, it can wait until you get back.
