Surprise!

Today, my 58 year-old mother told me she’s having a baby. Apparently she hasn’t started menopause yet, but assumed from her age she wouldn’t get pregnant when she started seeing a man she goes to bingo with. 58 years-old. My little brother/sister is going to be 36 years younger than me. FML

Commiserations and congratulations? That's... Well, I guess it just proves that there's no age limit on being a bit, well, dense. If you are still bleeding, even erratically, you still need birth control. My response to this would be a clout round the ear, a hug and a non negotiable list of my babysitting prices.

If your mother is indeed able to keep the fetus through the entire pregnancy, she will be right up there with the Guinness World Record holder; 59 is the record for a woman delivering a child after conceiving naturally. There’s a fairly high chance this pregnancy won’t succeed so please stay supportive as she may need your love and assistance soon.

Also, this really socks because if something happens, I'm guessing you will become guardian of your sibling who is likely younger than most of your own children. now, I do uave nieces older than 3 of their uncles. so you are not alone.

I looked into this one before posting, and it's actually much older: "Erramatti Mangamma currently holds the record for being the oldest living mother who gave birth at the age of 73"
