Today, I was at my boyfriend's house, meeting his family for the first time. We were all standing in the kitchen when suddenly a small white and brown mouse ran by. Out of natural instinct, I stomped on it. Turns out, it was his little sister's pet mouse that had gotten out of its cage earlier. FML

Today, I was laying in bed when my sister came running in, scared. I took my bat and went into the kitchen where the suspicious noise was coming from. It was a rat, right in the middle of the floor. I jumped on the counter and shrieked, just as my girlfriend walked in, who then actually dealt with it. FML

Today, my pet mouse demonstrated that he has bigger balls than my boyfriend, by running across the dinner table and eating off his plate, all while he jumped out of his chair, screaming like a girl. FML

Today, I accidentally left my sister's hamster's cage open and it escaped. My dad recently put mouse traps down. Guess where I found her. FML

Today, my sister brought her class hamster home from school. Somehow it escaped from its cage, and ran into my room. My boyfriend, thinking it was a mouse, stomped on it. I'm stuck cleaning hamster guts from my carpet, and have to explain to a kindergarten class what happened to their pet. FML

Today, I woke up at 6 a.m. and went into the kitchen, where I saw a mouse in front of the fridge. Petrified, I stood in the doorway shooing it for a few minutes. My husband then walked into the kitchen, picked up the "mouse", and threw it in the bin. It was a used tea bag. FML

Today, I came home to find a mouse in the garage. Frantic, I killed it. My 7-year-old son came home from soccer, and started crying because he couldn't find the class pet, Mr. Whiskers. I killed my son's class pet. FML

Today, I set up a mouse trap to kill the rodent plaguing my kitchen. While lying in bed, I heard an unmistakable snap, and ran to see what I'd caught. The mouse trap was missing. I now have a large, angry, and possibly dying animal running around my house. FML

You deserve it for stepping on a mouse. Yay for fast reflexes. Failure for panicking and killing something that couldn't hurt you and you (presumably) had no desire to eat. As for the people crying "why is it worse to kill a mouse than an insect?" I feel the need to point out that a mouse is a mammal. An insect is not. It's an insect. Mice are far more highly evolved and are more likely to know what's happening. Their brains are more highly developed. Also, as others pointed out, there are practical concerns. Who splatters a mouse? The mess alone would be a nightmare. Also, it's perfectly common for a mouse to be a pet. If someone's ant farm broke open and they had ants running all over the house, they would probably get bugspray. Most importantly, who does that in someone else's home? I've, unfortunately, been in some downright nasty houses. I can not imagine freaking out and killing even a bug in someone else's home, much less a mouse. It's rude and bizarre. Last, what is with people bitching about women and their reactions to mice? Few people really jump on a chair at the sight of a mouse. Personally, I take note, sigh regretfully, and head out to pick up a trap. I would be happy to catch it myself, but I know I'm not that quick. If you really believe that shrieking hysterically is the typical response for women, I have to wonder how often you leave the house and what kind of people you surround yourself with.
