Today, I was upset over a recent break up. It showed while I was at work, and I made a customer sad just by looking blue. She complained to my manager. I got written up for being so depressed that I got a customer depressed too. FML

Today, I was short shifted at work because one of my employees decided not to show up. Furious, I wrote her up and made predetermined judgments about her. When she came in, I went off on her for being absent and leaving me stuck. She then informed me her mom tried to commit suicide. FML
Today, I was working when I delivered the standard "Hello, how are you?" to a customer. He took the opportunity to tell me about his deceased wife, his estranged children, and his anal tearing. After a while, I tried to help someone else, and he complained to my manager. I was written up. FML
Today, my boss wrote me up for appearing "depressing" to customers. I told her that I was upset because my dog had to be put down yesterday. She told me, "Aw that’s sad. But guess what? That dog ain’t gonna pay your bills and put bread on your table. So cut the emo crap or you’re fired." FML
Today, I got written up at work for making a customer feel bad. I made him feel bad by laughing uncontrollably at him when he asked if we sold real light sabers. FML
Today, I got written up for insulting a customer last week, who then rang up to complain about my bad attitude. I was on vacation all last week. My boss doesn't believe me. FML
Today, I was feeling sad and depressed at work, when a customer said, “Smile. It’s nice and sunny outside.” Sunny weather makes me depressed. FML
Today, I was fired for being a very happy and perky employee. According to my boss, it freaks both the customers and my co-workers out. FML
Today, I found out my boss wrote me up because he heard me crying on the phone, and that it was unprofessional. I was talking to my sister, who was telling that me my father had died. Three weeks ago, he was crying about his dog breaking his leg. FML
Today, at work, we had an extremely rude customer who started cussing at us, and my coworker started cussing back. I jumped on the register to quickly bring down the line, and apologized to everyone for the scene. A secret shopper was in the line and claimed that I was rude. I got written up. FML
Today, I got written up by my line manager for being too friendly to customers. I work in retail, my job is to be friendly. FML

This is the main reason I hate working in customer service. People expect you to be smiling 24/7 but they don't realize how goddamn SORE your jaw gets when you smile for 8 hours straight. It's not a natural state for your mouth to be in.

Why couldn't you hide it that 2%, enough to not look tortured while being there? I don't think you should have gotten in trouble for it, but I'm not surprised someone noticed if it was that obvious

Not at a customer service job. I'm pretty sure they have like their own Constitution. First Amendment: A person working in a customer service job shall always smile. Second Amendment: Said person shall have no feelings other than extreme happiness and obedience for managers and willingness to hail The King aka the customer. Third Amendment: Said person shall be a robot. Fourth Amendment: Said person shall always keep in mind... Hail The King! Yeah, something like this.
