Today, I looked at my neighbor's empty lawn; he's an old guy and he usually has the best Christmas lights. We knew he might not be able to do them this year, so I felt bad and I did them for him. Later, a neighbor asked about them and I told her that I helped out. She said, "You do know he died, right?" FML

Today, it was my first day as a mailman. One of the houses got a bunch of cards, and the owner coincidentally opened the door as I arrived. So I said to the owner that someone in the house must really be popular. He replied, "She died this Tuesday." FML

Today, I went into work and noticed one of my fellow colleagues had a large bunch of flowers on her desk. As soon as I saw her, I immediately said, "Happy Birthday!" Everyone went quiet. It wasn't her birthday; her father had died. FML

Today, a friend asked me to cover his shift at work because his grandmother died. Like any decent friend, I obliged. Later, after leaving, I walked by a bar and saw him inside, laughing and doing shots with all of our friends. FML

Wow that is very kind and I feel like that the light should shine brighter then any other in the neiberhood sorry for misspell but yeah the light should be brighter then any other to show how happy he is for your kind deed I know he is looking down on you and crying tears of joys and whispering "thank you" have a merry Christmas you deserve to have a very special Christmas.

How did this poor soul deserve this FML?? The Christmas lights were put up through good will and willingness to help the "old man". This should be an "I agree, your life sucks" more than any other FML I've seen on this site.

I think she was trying to say that it was horrible that OP found out the old man died after OP had set up the Christmas lights for him.. Not the act of kindness.. =/
