It wasn't me

Today, I found a wallet on the train. I called the owner, who said he would come around and pick it up. When he finally did, he looked inside and screamed that his money was missing, and that I was a dirty thief. I never took a cent. He's filing theft charges against me. FML

Uhg, I hate these kind of people, you try to help them out but then they have to go and be ass holes about it. FYL

I would tell him go ahead and file charges- he didn't SEE you take the money, which you didn't, and he can't prove it. End of story. This is why people don't do nice things anymore- cuz it bites them in the butt.

Not really; the unappreciative bastard can't prove the OP took the money. It won't hold up in court. FYL for being sued for doing the right thing. YDI to the guy who lost the wallet in the first place. Hopefully he gets a case of identity theft on the side.

But the OP is still going to have to pay for a lawyer. Unless it goes to small claims court. Either way it's a waste of the OP's time and unnecessary stress.

~To #65 **** you you racist prick. For one the OP never mentioned their race. Secondly Even if they did that doesn't change a damn thing. Trolls like you have no lives.

it really does, I know, it happened to me, I work at a gas bar and someone brought in a walltet, called the guy and started yelling at me about the missing cash.

Most likely somebody pickpocketed the wallet from out his pants, took the cash and dropped it on the floor. Enter you, who finds it, and add the fact the guy is a total dumbass. Dont worry, it wount hold up in court.

What a perfect scam. Leaving your wallet somewhere with no cash and only an ID or something to call the owner, then press charges if a sucker is dumb enough to call and return the wallet. Genius!

well, she/he should of just left it on the train.

I think cash in a wallet is small claims...

How does she deserve it? She was just trying to be a good samaritan. But, as they say, nice guys guys finish last...

I think you mean "No good deed goes unpunished."

The road to hell is paid with good intentions I find is a better quote. Nice guys finish last is a quote for dating fool.

Don't you mean "paved"? lol Well, I guess toll booths can exist on roads to Hell.

She deserves it because she called the ****** when the wallet was empty.. Don't you think it would be wise to check to see if there's money first before calling them and saying you found it without getting blamed for stealing their money? But I guess most people don't have common sense.

38 fails. Common courtesy exists, you know. That way the guy doesn't have to pay for a new license, cancel his visa, get a new debit card, and all the hassle of whatever else was in there. But I guess when all you think about is the douche-bag side of things, you miss out on stuff like that.

Been ****** over by too many people to trust them anymore so sorry if I seem like I look at the douchbag side of things. Asshole.

Lmao Crickets you dumb ****. How's she supposed to know if he had money in it or not? Douche.

Lmao Crickets, you idiot. How's she supposed to know if he had money in it to begin with? Douche.

lol with her ******* psychic abilities. lmao wth she has hands im sure she can open it. xD

Hardly, I imagine there were probably licenses and such in there. I doubt anyone would really call someone up to tell them they lost their wallet if it was just a empty wallet. :/

uhh guys same way she figured out what the dudes number was, she had to open the wallet and fish through for the guys ID therefore you could notice how much cash is in it

she could have known how much money was there TO BEGIN WITH. which, incidentally, is what skullet said. but sure, ignore that. anyway, you guys are dumb paranoid douchebags. even if it didn't have money, it obviously had at least a driver license, probably one or more credit/debit cards as well. i personally think that the shit someone who loses those has to go through warrants calling them to return the wallet. and why would any of you assume someone you called to RETURN THEIR WALLET to would blame you?

They're almost required... toll booths are obviously the work of Satan. :D

I thought the same thing! Puts an empty wallet with some old ID in it, expecting someone to turn it in (perhaps for a reward) because there's no money to take from it. Then, when the person turns it in (i.e., our OP here) the con artist claims the samaritan took the money that was never in there. Bam, lawsuit filed in hopes of being a dick and taking their money through the law. Or, the ****** that lost the wallet could just be an enormous, dumb asshole.

Agreed #61. It is also possible for another person to have already gotten to the wallet and taken the money before the OP found it.

Its going to be really hard to prove any money was removed from the wallet by the person who returned it.

ha your life blows and i would probably do the same thing

so let me get this straight, hes going to tell a cop and potentially a judge you are a good Samaritan. I hope you are there when they laugh him out of the room.

I would tell him go ahead and file charges- he didn't SEE you take the money, which you didn't, and he can't prove it. End of story. This is why people don't do nice things anymore- cuz it bites them in the butt.

Wow what an asshole. If someone really wanted to steal your money they wouldn't call, and let you know your wallet is missing. -_-

#6 +1 Tell him he has no evidence that you stole it, and then get some common sense. Thiefs don't want to be caught. They also don't call back to return an item they stole from.

AWWW!!! Hell no! I would have never called that number if I knew. I would have kept that damn wallet. Anyway, tell the damn dummy if you did take money you would have never called him.

Simple logic escapes some people. Don't worry.

That man has no reasoning skills whatsoever. Sucks for you.

he could never win anyways. who cares.
