Don't get it

Today, my fiancée called off our wedding at the last moment, because her neurotic sister thinks she's "too fat" to be the maid of honor, and says she needs several months to lose weight. So that's a few thousand dollars wasted. My fiancée says I'm "overreacting" and that I "just don't get it". FML

This is a sign. Run now while you can.

Ask your fiancée why she didn't just tell her sister she looked great and that she wasn't fat instead of non verbally agreeing with her sisters thought by giving her time to lose weight.

uhm... usually weddings are planned far in advance so if she wanted to be thinner for the wedding she should've started when she got the news

That sounds like a half-hearted excuse. You might want to talk to her OP, sounds like she is getting cold feet. Or she is just irresponsible financially. FYL either way

A woman telling a man he's overreacting? What bizarre, unfathomable universe have I entered?

honestly mate, i'd say you dodged a bullet.

You are better off without her. Good luck OP.

agreeing with several of the above, if she's this controlled by her family you needed to call off the wedding, permanently.

Sounds like it's a hint at your future. Take advantage of it.

Sounds like you aren't his priority. Family is everything but your spouse should always be number one. Maybe those several months will give you the chance to realize he might be the one for you. JS...

I'm curious who's paying for the wedding. those things are expensive and many places won't refund your money for last minute cancellation. Not to mention people having to change/cancel their travel plans. If she doesn't want to get married, she should come out and say so. If this is truely about the sisters weight, then she's incredibly insensitive to everyone else

Didn't she have time between knowing you two were getting married and the day of the wedding to prepare?
