Today, my dad thought it would be funny to spray my open window with the hose. RIP my laptop, phone, school books, wooden desk, my entire bookshelf, and my carpet. FML

#1 Jesus pls. First off, it's 'you da real MVP' and secondly, it doesn't relate in any way to the FML! The OP just got some important things destroyed ffs.

He's the MVP because he took one for the team, I'm not trying to be a dick, thats my way of saying sorry.

I take it with sprite. It is rather exquisitely horrible.

If not squirt him with a hose when he's in his room :p

OP's father took the paternity, the whole "dads will be dads" thing to the highest level...

Just because you get older, doesnt mean your common sense improves lol sorry op, hope he replaces your stuff!

Actually, most people do tend to get wiser with age. OP's dad just isn't one of them.

I'm sure your dad didn't think that would happen, he probably thought "oh I'm gonna just sprinkle some water, no biggie" ... Quite unfortunate for you. FYL OP.

Ask him to repay you all the things he damaged

We are in desperate need of the Idiot Translator. *phones Doc*

I think it's supposed to say: "Your dad has an awesome sense of humour." But, I'm still only guessing...

GenH - Leave the translating up to the professionals. *whirr* *bzzz* *click* *DING* "Your dad has an awesome sense of humour. I think that saying 'sarcasm' is an excuse for typing worse than a grade 4 dropout crack *****." You're welcome.

Thanks doc! Your help with the idiots is always appreciated!.....and unfortunately needed quite often

Ask him how it felt.. Destroying everything he bought you with his money.. Once he realises that let's see if he still finds it funny.

I was thinking the same thing. The dad probably bought most of the things destroyed. That's an assumption though. Maybe OP bought everything themselves. Either way I can't believe spraying some water through a window would destroy all of those things. Since when does water cause carpet damage? It's just water. Everything else is pretty understandable if he REALLY soaked the place.

The only way all of those things could be damaged is if the hose was aimed through the window for an extensive period of time (at least a couple of minutes) and if all the smaller items were at the same height, both of which i struggle to believe

I disagree. Imagine a wooden study desk with a laptop that had study notes from the textbooks next to it, while usb charging a cellphone.

Not necessarily. The desk and the bookshelf might have been close to each other, and if they were sprayed it's pretty obvious all the stuff on them would be wet, too. A hose can use a lot of water in a short time, so it's not unreasonable.

Water has always caused carpet damage... Spilling a glass of water or something is one thing.... If the carpet gets soaked though, it's pretty much impossible to dry it, or more specifically the pad. Which leads to mold and bacteria growing in/beneath the carpet... So it does in fact have to be replaced. That being said I find it hard to believe anyone would spray THAT much water through a window as a joke.

This suggestion could backfire though. The dad may not want to replace it all since he bought the them all in the first place and they were "basically his." At least I can see the dad saying this even if it's not logical.

I don't understand how a spray of water could instantly destroy all those things. Especially the laptop. My laptop went through hell in the military including being doused in soda and water and it still works fine. It's my nephews now for kiddie games and the like. I dunno it seems like there's more to this FML, follow up needed.

well u have one of the few laptops that can take water and not be messed up at all.

You should open his window and spray the hose into his room and see how he likes it lol

You never know, the dad could be a freak, and it could get him wet. Cough cough.
