Today, we told my fiancé's parents that I'm pregnant. His mom's response? "I'm going to throw up. You can't raise a child." We are both 28, self-sufficient and everyone else is thrilled. FML

Keep your head up OP, you guys are going to be great parents! Congrats!!!

To be fair, being self sufficient and all that isn't what it takes to be a good parent.

18- I think the point is that they aren't relying on his mom to support them. No parent is perfect. It is a learning curve everyday, but someone who can support themselves and their significant other is usually on a pretty good path.

She had to clean him of shit, change his diapers etc, kind of understandable

Age & financial stability don't have much to do with it. It's mainly about knowledge and mental stability. Congrats though...

Don't listen to her OP she's just jealous cuz your taking your little boy away from her, but she could still be supportive. Best of luck with the baby! Congratulations!

Sometimes in-laws are assholes. Just ignore her. I'm sure as soon as the baby comes, she'll be glad you had it.

That's a rude ass thing to say. I'm sure you'll be great parents. Best of luck OP, and congratulations :)

Is she the one having the kid? No? Tough shit.

She's jealous. Throw some sperm at her.

I had to laugh at this just because I didn't see it cumming .

Dafuq? This comment is just all types of nasty

actually its pretty damn funny. you just need a sense of humor.

Moms from the dad's side are always so jealous of not being the only woman in their son's life

she might have been less freaked out if you were already married

#9 You don't have to be married to have a child! What a stupid thing to say!

may be its time for you to throw up and convey the message again...

I had that response with my first. No greater satisfaction than proving her wrong ;) congratulations and good luck!
