Today, I had to convince my 3-year-old son that there were monsters in the house just so he would lie in bed and cuddle me. FML

As clever as this was, she'll regret it later. However building trust between mother and child is important. Parenting done right with benefit only to the parent.

Well, parenting is to some extent all about indoctrination and slight manipulation, but that's just wrong OP

Amazing how many people fail to see sarcasm...

How odd. I thought the sarcasm was obvious.

it's the mother's job to teach her children about the world and protect them. OP has done the opposite.

109 At least with Santa your not trying to scare your children

how are you going to convince him they aren't real once he starts growing and still sleeps in your bed?

Some people, including some kids are just not cuddly people, scaring your child so you can have a cuddle is bordering on abusive.

what a horrible parent!!!! I hope the cuddles were worth it! You might have done real damage to him, I hope IF it manifests, it makes your life as horrible as his. . . he could be afraid if all kinds of things now, you suck OP!!

Eh...what about all those pictures of terrified kids sitting on Santa's lap??

Done right? WTF scare your kid so you feel better? man no wonder kids are growing up to be little bitches

reminds me of a "The Goldberg's" episode

@#134...I was thinking the same thing.

Agree, OP may mess up his kid for the next couple of years.

Yeah I plan on getting my three yr old daughter a foam sword and when she thinks there are monsters in the closet or under the bed, having her attack them.

#30: then a llama jumps out and licks her :3

Reminds me of that FML where the OP cuddled with his dog once and woke up and smooched what he/she though was his nose but actually kissed the dog's asshole.

^ I would leave too, if you were always making that face.

It's the exact same thing as being lonely.

Maybe you should just bribe him with candy next time(:

I hated cuddling when I was little. Even candy would not convince me. I would only occasionally give a hug because I felt guilty when my mom made a sad face when I said no. Maybe OP's kid is the same way but won't even do it out of guilt! (Can kids that young feel guilt?)

I guess I just dont understand your guys' side of things! I have never denied some good cuddles! well unless you're a stranger but you get the point(:

Scarring children for selfish reasons...interesting.

Honestly, along the lines of scarring children, I immediately thought of scary movie 3 when Brenda died. "Do you know your teacher, Ms. Brenda?" "Yeah?" "SHE'S DEAD! SHE'S NEVER COMING BACK! SHE PROBABLY DIED A SLOW PAINFUL DEATH." Wanna cuddle?
