Today, my boyfriend cancelled our vacation plans because I'll be on my period, arguing that, "It wouldn't be a real holiday." FML

He should have just changed the destination instead of canceling the whole thing. In those circumstances, you two should have gone to the Red Sea.

I agree a little with the boyfriend. You can still have fun - even sexual - whilst the girl is on her period, but it will probably be less fun, because of the pain and the blood and so... But cancelling the vacation is a big stap, knowing that there exists something like the pill, which can cancel the period.

The pill can cancel you period but you will need to get the prescription from the doctor in order to get them. (where I'm from) And yes, I agree, you could still fool around while on you period but it's limited to a certain degree. (:

I think everyone needs a prescription for the pill. It's still a medicine. My point is just that most women already are taking the pill, and if OP's girlfriend is one of them, she can cancel her period very easily. That's even possible with the nuvaring. Pff, you (end your partner) decide were the limits are. That's very personal.

Not limited to you doing it, limited to how you do it. You can't play around the world if you're not under a towel or something. Unless you want your session to look like a murder scene. That's all I meant.(:

but what about those tv commercials of women riding a horse on the beach in white pants?

10- Very bad advice. Even if on birth control, you shouldn't be on such a high dose of estrogen that you miss periods. Dangerous, can cause blood clots. Birth control almost killed my mother.

TheDrifter 23

There are low estrogen alternatives that delay periods for longer cycles than the traditional 28 day (with 7 placebo pills in the cycle) cycle pill that has been out for almost fifty years. C'mon I'm a guy and I've learned this from the tv ads, how are women missing this information?

Since when are most girls on the pill?? Have you seen the teen pregnancy rate lol. I agree with the bf and not just for sexual reasons. Who wants to be on vacation with cramps, moodiness, and having to change tampons/pads in public restrooms. I get that most girls are probably used to it but it's VACATION.

Oh, so the teen pregnancy rate shows us that 90% of all teens doesn't use precautions? I don't think so. It's a minority that doesn't take contraception, and the pill is the most popular of all contraception. I think we can safely suggest that most women are on the pill. '10- Very bad advice. Even if on birth control, you shouldn't be on such a high dose of estrogen that you miss periods.' I would suggest that you have a talk with a dokter. It is absolutely safe to take the pill for about 4 months. As a experiment - and because I hate periods - I took the pill once for 8 months. The only reason why you shouldn't do that, is because you start bleeding without even having your period, you get stomach cramps, become dizzy, bad tempered...8 months is way too long. But one month? No.

stoping your period dozens sound very safe, reminds me of stoping your heart does it cause problems???

@47 Scheduling periods is kind of a feature of the pill. Granted, you shouldn't do it EVERY month, but it's still possible and there's no problem if you only do it once or twice a year.

#78 - No, it's not normally a big deal, and like #79 said, is kind of a feature. If you skip three or four periods in a row, you'll wind up getting breakthrough bleeding, regardless of not taking the sugar pills. It's pretty handy if you're - say - going on vacation, camping, or any of the other scenarios in tampon ads. The downside is that if you get pregnant, it might not be obvious because you're already not getting your period. As with all medical advice from unqualified people on the internet though, do some research yourself, and talk to your doctor about it.

Its because they put the commercials at all the wrong times on all the wrong channels. How often do they show a girls product commercial in the middle of a action movie on tv?

it still wouldn't be a holiday man

You must be a real bitch during that week. YDI.

Her bitchiness is likely not her fault during that time. Before I started on the pill I was a monster the few days before it started. I'm usually a very calm person, but I couldn't control my temper unless I put myself in complete solitary confinement. My fiance even admitted I was a real bitch before I got on the pill, but at least he understood that it was not under my control. OP, your bf is a dick, but you might also want to think about going on the pill. Not only does it help with PMS but you can skip the placebos and delay your period.

Thanks for propagating the stereotype that women are slaves to their emotions.

MuchDance90s 0

not emotions ... hormones big difference and yes they can have a gigantic impact on mood, and no it is not all in your head

I think he's made a good call. Diving with sharks is dangerous at the best of times.

Maybe they have really whiney conservative neighbours and the holiday was partly an excuse to have noisy sex for once? Still not cool on the boyfriend's part though, there's more to a holiday than sex even if you're not getting any at home.
