Today, I arrived at work, only to be arrested and accused of stealing over $8000 from my job. Five hours later at the police station, the discovery was made that the actual thief had an employee ID one digit different than mine. He works at another location over 1200 miles away. FML

Today, I was at work when two sheriff's deputies walked in. They asked me my name and when I told them, they asked me to turn around and they cuffed me. They told me I was under arrest for robbery. Turns out I was mistakenly IDed, but now every one at my job thinks I'm an armed robber. FML

Today, I was shopping at a store from which I had previously bought a shirt. The clerk accused me of trying to steal my own shirt and called security. They examined it and argued with me for so long I was late to work. FML

Today, I was shopping with my husband. At the self-checkout, one of the items I was buying for him as a gift didn’t register. As we were walking out, I get stopped and escorted to the loss prevention office, where I was accused of stealing. FML

Today, after I told my boss I'd found a serious error that cost the company thousands each year, I found out he'd fled abroad. Turns out the error was him stealing for the past 40 years, our entire department is under investigation and the owner is considering scrapping our office and firing us. FML

Today, as I was doing the morning count for the registers, a lady walked by and saw me. She's got Alzheimer's, and thought I was robbing the guy I'd bought the store from, so she called the cops. I spent six hours in jail while they looked into it, and didn't even get an apology. FML

Today, my slacker co-worker accused me of stealing because I got more hours than him. I was called into the manager's office and interrogated. They believed him, and sent me home for the day. I guess it pays off being the boss's kid. FML

Today, I accidentally set off an alarm at the school I work for. No one was there, I didn't have the code or password the company needed, my boss wouldn't answer his phone, 3 policemen interrogated me and asked for ID but realized I left home without my wallet. There was nothing I could do. I cried. FML

did you get fired or can you keep your job? do your coworkers think differently of you? #1 they probably looked at the withdrawals again and realized that the ID numbers were different. once they spotted that, they kind of had to let him go.

Yeah, somehow, 'oops, our bad' doesn't seem to cover it. I can understand their concern, but geez... with all of their resources they should be able to at least get their facts straight before they start bringing people into custody. And what the hell is with people going, "He deserved that one." Imagine having your identity stolen because it's one digit different from someone else. Idiots. Sorry dude, but I agree with #1 - 5 hours is pretty good all things considering. You shouldn't have had to go through it, but at least they didn't retain you on false charges even longer. Did you get a raise?

To all the people saying "sue them" this is exactly whats wrong with America today. They made a mistake, for the love of Christ stop turning everything into a sue happy world just because your day was inconvenienced. That being said, that sucks that happened

Its more than just being inconvenienced. Now his employers will think differently about OP and so will his coworkers. The arrest will stay on his record whether or not he did it.
