I'm just wondering why they didn't move. Rabbits, in what little experience I have, will disappear if you walk a foot towards them and step on a twig, let alone drive a lawn mower their way.

A rabbit once had her babies in my backyard. We discovered them when we let my chocolate lab outside, and he started to dig in the hole. Poor babies never stood a chance ?

Well if OP ran over their mother then she's not gonna be around to check on them, obviously. 23 was suggesting to shelter them since they don't have a mother to do that anymore
