Today, on Intervention…

Today, I staged an intervention for my dad, because his midlife crisis has spun out of control. When I told him he's now basically endangering his own life, he replied "Everyone's gonna die someday. Some sooner than others, eh porky?" FML

Sounds like your father doesn't care for his well-being or his family's feelings. Sorry OP. At least you tried to help?

Don't worry OP, he's just insecure and lashing out. At least you tried, those who do not want help cannot be helped.

The day my children stage an intervention because I am having fun after forty is the day I will stop weighing my words too.

I don't know...Children who feel entitled to controlling their parents lives really annoy me. Your dad is a human. An adult human, who "basically" gets to do whatever he wants. Why should be waste years of his life trying to fit a mold you're making in your mind for him? If you didn't bother to detail what exactly he's doing I can't imagine it's all that bad.

"Controlling their parents' lives" How about simply caring for their own wellbeing?
