Today, I noticed that my mom still has me saved in her phone with my married name. I told her she could change it back to my maiden name. She said, "Not until it's legal!" My husband and I have been separated for more than 2 years and my divorce will be finalized in 2 days. She still won't change it. FML

Today, I got back to work. Last week, my divorce was finalized and my last name is, once again, my maiden name. Since I'm a teacher, all my students will remember me by my ex-husband's last name. I get to be reminded every day that my marriage failed until everyone memorizes my maiden name. FML

Today, my wife is still angry with me, 11 years later, for not allowing her to give our son her surname. Damn you, your surname is your ex-husband's name. You never changed it back. How on Earth is it acceptable for my child to carry your ex's surname? FML

I don't get it either. What sort of questions would make your change your name? Unless, like, you have a ridiculous name and they were asking why the hell she took it? Or your last name is the same as her first name? Meh.

maybe the husband is a dbag or abusive. maybe this is her first step at setting free. dont blame the wife, the husband could have done something bad. whoever's at fault, it looks like a divorce is necessary.
