Today, my new boss asked me to handle a very difficult client, warning me that, "He's kind of a dick." My accidental response? "That's fine, I'm great at handling dicks." FML

sometimes customers require hands on attention instead of just paying them lip service

I'll bet you're an expert at beating them into submission. You have them submit all over your face like an absolute champ.

Don't let him get a rise out of you, OP.

Shouldn't it be the dick he's handling that he doesn't want to get a rise out of? Or maybe he does

Sometimes clients need special handling in specific ways. Sometimes you have to directly ask them what they want before they will be pleased instead of pandering around and being all explanative.

I bet it was hard to come back from that.

I'm sure what you do on your own time doesn't matter to your boss

You came too soon... That's why, think and then speak. Fortunately for you, it wasn't that bad. At least you did not finish that sentence with "that's why I get along fabulously with you."
