Today, my boyfriend was diagnosed with a UTI. He thought men can only get UTIs by "catching" them from a woman, so he blamed me for it. FML

I wonder if someone could catch stupid from him...

He needs to do some research. Its not like an STI, you can't pass it from person to person like that.

Yes, because infections inside a urinary tract can totally be spread around. :/ While it's recommended not to have sex when you have one, it doesn't mean it can be spread. Let your boyfriend know just how stupid he is because UTIs are actually rarer in men than they are women and he must be really special to have caught one. (Absolutely no offense to any male who's ever had one before, including my husband. I just feel like this guy's ignorance needs a smack of reality.)

Women have a better chance of a UTI based on female anatomy, but I don't think he can catch it from you. Namely if you don't have one yourself. And most UTIs are the usual flora overgrowing. How is his hygiene?

"Get only get" ... Either you're stuttering, or there's problems with you're grammar. He's wrong, I agree, but reading such illiterate posts gets me annoyed

Somebody didn't do a good job cleaning their pecker.

I think he may have been thinking of a yeast infection, which can be spread through sexual contact but women usually know when we have one and avoid it. UTIs can't be caught as the urethra in women is not the same hole that intercourse happens in. Unless you've somehow magically figured out how to transfer pee, he may want to hit up the black Friday sales and buy some common sense... I hear they have great deals.

As an aside it's very difficult for males to get urinary tract infections because their urethra is longer and therefore more difficult for bacteria to travel it without interruption (urine) females is shorter. Unfortunately in young males every time I have a patient who has shown to have a "UTI" turns out the bacteria is chlamydia...might want to check that out
