Today, my boyfriend snuck into my house and hid in my closet. Knowing that I have a phobia of people jumping out of closets, he nonetheless thought it would be funny to see how I'd react. I had a panic attack and was taken to the hospital. FML

Today, I finally told my boyfriend that I see a therapist every week because, amongst other things, I'm terrified of being locked in a room. He didn't believe me, so he locked me in the bathroom "for a laugh." I had a panic attack and passed out. FML

Today, when I got up for work, I went into the bathroom and saw a coat hanger sitting in the crack of the window. I had a panic attack, thinking someone had tried to break in and grabbed a knife. I ran into the room where my boyfriend was sleeping and he said he put it there. FML

Today, I’m still recovering from last night. I fell asleep before my boyfriend. He thought it would be funny to stand at the bottom of the bed with a knife and wake me up. I screamed so much that I wet myself and had a panic attack. He recorded the whole thing. FML

Today, my boyfriend made me play Slender. I was so terrified, I stopped playing 10 minutes in. Tonight, I kept hearing noises outside. Sorry, OP! Panic attacks suck. It sounds like your panic attacks are pretty severe if you had to be taken to the hospital, though...You might consider seeking help for that. It's certainly helped me!

Panic attacks are real, however they do not require treatment at a hospital. The most severe ones will pass, without abusing EMS and the ED.

Or a heart condition. My panic attacks often result in chest-pain, arrhythmia, and difficulty breathing. In more severe ones, I've had seizures. But I don't go to the hospital anymore because they leave me in the waiting room for two hours until the episode passes, run a few minor tests, tell me there's nothing wrong, send me home, then mail me a $2000 bill.
