Today, my boyfriend proposed. The ring just had a piece of graphite on it. My boyfriend argued that since graphite and diamonds are both just forms of carbon, it is the same thing. FML

I'm so sorry your boyfriend didn't spend thousands of dollars on you for a tiny shiny rock you wear on your finger with money he could use to buy you a nice house to live in shame on him. btw an engagement ring may as well be literally buying soneones love

poor sweety, you didn't get your diamond ring ur pathetic

It's not the kind of ring he proposes with, but that he actually proposed. Marriage isn't about who has the nicest ring or best honeymoon, it's the fact that you think you trust your partner enough to begin a commitment.

it shouldnt be about the ring it should be about love. I wont pick sides but i think that if you love him enough you would marry him ring or no ring

You should be happy he thought enough of you to propose in the first place.

STUCK UP MUCH? honestly! he proposed to you! be happy there is someone in your life who actually cares about you!

not true diamond is a giant covalent structure with each carbon atom bonded to 4 other carbon atoms which is why its so strong, carbon atoms in graphite are only bonded to 3 other atoms each, this means it is structured in layers able to easily slide over each other making it malleable.

The way it is phrased sounds like OP's boyfriend is the type of guy that says he hates Valentine's Day because it's a Hallmark holiday, he won't buy an expensive ring because it is just propaganda by jewelry companies. Like it or not, women like a little romance. We see the ring, not as how much it is worth, but as a symbol of what we are worth to the man giving it. There's really nothing wrong with that.

Ha! pencilring u no u made my day :3
